Other than access to water sports, can anyone explain to me why the cedar creek area is such a wondeful retirement area for seniors? On the average we find the area filled with trash and equally poor eating places and places to shop.......of course, there are a very few exceptions to this statement. Is there such a thing as health and code enforcement to protect people from being sick from the food they eat when they eat out? __________________ "Grace doesn't depend on suffering to exist, but where there is suffering you will find grace in many facets and colors."

Reply with quote | #2 | We recently visited CCL and found it so enjoyable, we bought a home in Star Harbor with the plan to retire there in 2010. Eating out is not a priority for our enjoyment of the area but we did get a great, cheap breakfast in Kemp. Do not remember the name but I'm sure there aren't so many breakfast establishments there that you couldn't find it.
I was dismayed by a post I read on another site that claims Henderson County is the meth capital of TX...
Does anyone on this site live at Star Harbor or Malakoff? Would be interested in exchanging info... |

I saw that "meth capital" reference too but not sure where it came from. It sure is not Star Harbor! It's a beautiful area at the south end of the lake. I have a friend there that has lived there full time for over 10 years (and part timed for 10 years before that) and just loves it.
We're weekenders here for the last 2 1/2 years, and spend virtually every weekend here rather than Dallas.
To me, a retirement community should allow a lower cost of living, convenient shopping, emergency medical care and enough things to do to keep busy. I think the CCL area provides all of this!
